Advent 2014

Since winter poses an interesting dilemma for outdoor sketching, here's what happened when my friends came up with the idea to observe advent with one sketch a day until Christmas. And yes many of them accomplished over the lunch hour!

Ponte Sant'Angelo, Rome - Sketch from an old photo, the trip was in spring 2012.

The Pink Building! South facade.

The first digital drawing on the blog - the Advent word of the day was "branch," decided to doodle something with the Cintiq tablet I use at work.

Word of the day was "urban." I was looking for a much grander scale but still satisfied with the quickness of this one.

Another that's not a building! Still a good application of the ink.

The end of the outdoors is near...

Will need some new pens soon..

Outdoor cafe underneath the Marc Chagall sculpture in Chase Tower Plaza, Dearborn/Monroe

Then and Now Part 1 - layers of Michigan Avenue street-wall from Millennium Park. Just the beginning of several examples of modern glass skyscrapers peeking up behind the historic Michigan street-wall from Roosevelt to Randolph.

Pattern in a riverwalk railing and the facade of the building on the other side of the river. Riverwalk/LaSalle St.

A great rusted grimy thing that sits in the river, along both sides of all bridges.
